The last 5 days has left me feeling very disconnected. Literally.
Just over a year having an iphone and it decides it is no longer required to work. At all. How dandy!
Aside from my inital worries about not being able to play words with friends every second I have spare, I found myself more dwelling on the irony that my phone had died not long after the apple 12 month warranty expired.
I took this as a sign that a much needed break for the 2 of us would benefit our relationship in the long term. I may just have to start playing scrabble of the real kind.
It gets me thinking about how the human race did it, say 20 years ago when having a mobile phone on your self 24/ 7 wasnt detrimental to surviving.
Imagine a world where people had to make plans; and (shock) keep them. These days everyone is so accessible a last minute cancellation would see an email, tweet, message, facebook post, and/ or call reach the person immediately. As opposed to if one didnt have a mobile phone in which they'd be left sitting at a table nibbeling impatiently on a bread roll, not even able to distract themelves with facebook while they wait. Sad
Aside from a couple instances of desperation involving riding my bike around Terrigal searching for my friends and finally getting the courage to ask a random middle aged man if I can use his phone for an emergency call (being lost is an emergency ok especially when your wearing a helmet covered in aluminum foil), I feel like I may very well be able to carry on for centuries without this so called 'phoney' device. In fact, id like a return of the good ol' fashioned letter as means of primary communication. Or live by the saying 'ill see you when I see you', letting chance bring people together. I must give thanks to 'Words with friends' app though. Last week a standard game helped Pete and I to realise we were both playing each other; at the same time, on the same train. There I learnt real words with friends can be alot more fun and pass the hour long train ride faster than any highly addictive computer game ever could. WORD
In more important news, im coveting to be with some of my dearest gal pals as they venture up to sunset sounds in Brisbane. Nothing says girl time more like a road trip , copious amounts of fuel (of the food kind) and the sweetest company. Oh and QLD; ease up on the rain please. This el nino thing is getting a little old.
Safe travels babes!
